No, the only condition is that it must be a “bicycle within the meaning of the Highway Code”.
It doesn’t matter whether it is a city bike, mountain bike, racing bike, cargo bike, children's bike or other type of bike.

The following information must appear on the paid invoice:

• the applicant's first name and surname
• the date of purchase between 11 May 2020 and 31 March 2022 (date of paid invoice)
• the type of vehicle, with the statement "bicycle within the meaning of the Highway Code" or any other proof that it is a bicycle without an auxiliary motor, or even one whose auxiliary motor does not operate above 25 km/h (pedelec25)
• the purchase price excluding VAT.

Yes, children's bikes are also eligible for grants if they are proper bikes, i.e. "a bicycle within the meaning of the Highway Code". On the other hand, children's bicycles that do not meet the definition of a bicycle (for example those without pedals – “Laufrad”) are not eligible.

Yes, if the cargo bike is a bicycle, i.e. "a cycle within the meaning of the Highway Code" (a conventional bicycle without a motor or a pedelec25).

No, a pedelec25 does not have to be registered with the SNCA, because legally there is no difference between a pedelec25 and a conventional bicycle (unlike a pedelec45).

A pedelec25 is a bicycle with pedal assistance provided by an electric auxiliary motor whose maximum continuous power does not exceed 250 W and which ceases to assist the cyclist as soon as the latter stops pedalling or exceeds 25 km/h.

A pedelec25 is a "bicycle within the meaning of the Highway Code" and thus benefits from exactly the same regulatory advantages as a conventional bicycle.
 

A “bicycle within the meaning of the Highway Code” is:

• either a bicycle (conventional bicycle without a motor);
• or a pedal-assisted bicycle (pedelec25).

These "bicycles within the meaning of the Highway Code" can be of various types: city bike, mountain bike (MTB), trekking bike, BMX (“motocross bicycle"), racing bike, cargo-bike, child bicycle, etc.
 

Yes, the grant of up to €600 is limited to "bicycles within the meaning of the Highway Code", such as a:

• bike;
• pedelec25;
• bike/pedelec25 child.

A request must be sent to the Environmental administration together with the following documents:

• the application form (download the form from Guichet.lu);
• the paid invoice on which the following information must be listed:
• the applicant's first name and surname
• the type of vehicle
• the purchase price excluding VAT;
• the vehicle registration certificate;
• the certificate of conformity (COC) of the vehicle;
• for a legal entities, a copy of a document issued by the electricity supplier proving that the applicant requesting the aid has subscribed, before the date of submission of the application, to a contract for the supply of green electricity from 100% renewable sources;
• a copy of the contract of sale of the vehicle, if the date of conclusion of the contract of sale is between 11 May 2020 and 31 March 2022 inclusive or if the vehicle is put into service for the first time between 1 April 2021 and 31 December 2022 inclusive.

If the applicant is a legal entity, the application can be submitted no earlier than seven months after first registration
