Types of energy communities

The image illustrates the two types of energy communities.

  1. Local energy community (CEL): a group of various buildings, some equipped with solar panels and others not, where the distance between the two furthest does not exceed 300 meters. The electricity produced is shared among these neighbouring buildings.
  2. Renewable national energy community (CER):  a map of Luxembourg shows different buildings, with or without solar panels, supplying electricity to more distant sites / buildings. This illustrates that electricity can be shared across multiple locations belonging to the sharing group.

Each building is represented by an illustration with blue outlines, solar panels in yellow, and arrows indicating the flow of electricity. Circular symbols with arrows illustrate the concept of electricity sharing.
