Photovoltaics: how to launch your project with peace of mind

18/07/25 - News

The energy transition is progressing in Luxembourg, and interest in installing solar panels continues to grow. This is a positive development: it allows citizens to produce their own electricity, save money, and help combat climate change.

At Klima-Agence, we encourage you not to rush. Take the time to compare offers, understand your rights, and seek guidance if needed. Here are the key steps to move forward with confidence and transparency.

First and foremost: get informed about solar energy

Before requesting a quote or reaching out to a company, it’s essential to understand what a photovoltaic project really involves: the tangible benefits, the necessary requirements, the options for self-consumption, and the available subsidies.

Follow the right steps to build your project effectively

To support you throughout your photovoltaic project, we’ve created a practical guide. This document explains in detail all the necessary steps for completing your installation – from planning to commissioning.

You’ll also find a clear overview of the roles and responsibilities of each party involved – installers, suppliers, and more – to help you better understand who does what.

To make things even easier, the guide includes links to useful websites that simplify the solar panel installation process.

Before you commit, here are our tips:

  • Request several quotes from different providers.
  • Compare the offers based on specific criteria: system sizing, equipment quality, warranty period, installation conditions, etc.
  • Check that the company is registered in the Luxembourg Trade and Companies Register and holds a valid business permit.

If you have any doubts about the contents of a quote or a commercial offer, don’t hesitate to contact your Klima-Agence advisor. We’re here to help you clarify every detail.

State aid: Klimabonus

The Klimabonus programme is in place until the end of 2025, and a new programme is currently being developed to take over afterwards. So there’s no need to rush – take the time to plan carefully and carry out a solid, sustainable project.

Canvassing: your rights, your protection

Door-to-door sales are allowed. Sales representatives are permitted to visit your home to offer products or services.

Tips to avoid unwanted solicitation:

  • The ULC provides free stickers that say “Colportage – Nee Merci”.
  • Without this sticker, you are implicitly allowing salespeople to knock on your door. If you open the door but are not interested, you can simply ask them to leave.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask for the company’s name, their business permit (which you can verify on guichet.lu), and their registration number.
  • If a professional salesperson insists that you sign a contract, you can challenge its validity in court – and the seller may be fined.
  • If you do sign, you have a 14-day cooling-off period during which you can cancel the contract without giving any reason.

As Klima-Agence, we believe it is our responsibility to support households in these situations. Our free, independent service is always available to assist you.
