Are you planning to renovate your home, install a heat pump or make better use of your solar electricity? The Klimabonus subsidy scheme is changing for the 2026–2030 period.
The new framework aims in particular to strengthen the energy renovation of homes, accelerate the electrification of building services and simplify certain technical requirements. The scheme will apply until 2030, and for some measures until 2035.
Increased subsidies for your energy renovation
Improving insulation, replacing windows or installing a ventilation system helps reduce your home's energy needs while increasing comfort.
To encourage these works, subsidies for renovating the building envelope will be temporarily increased by 15 to 20%. This increase applies to applications for an agreement in principle submitted by 30 June 2027.
Some technical requirements have also been simplified, and new subsidies are available for:
- insulating external walls combined with the installation of exterior cladding;
- installing green roofs or green façades.
More support for energy advice
Energy advice helps you identify the renovation measures best suited to your home and plan the different stages of your renovation project.
For applications for an agreement in principle submitted by 30 June 2027, the subsidy is increased by:
- €300 for a single-family home;
- €500 for an apartment building.
New subsidies for selected technical systems
The new scheme also introduces several measures to better integrate renewable energies into homes.
From 1 October 2026, a subsidy will be available for installing a Home Energy Management System (HEMS). A HEMS intelligently coordinates different systems, such as a photovoltaic installation, a home battery, a heat pump or a charging station.
Other new measures include:
- a replacement bonus for oil-fired boilers located in a water protection zone;
- the installation of a wood-burning stove in a home without central heating.
Updated subsidies for heating systems
Subsidies for heat pumps, wood pellet boilers and connections to a district heating network will now be paid as fixed amounts. They will therefore no longer depend on the capacity of the installation.
For heat pumps, the subsidy is temporarily increased by €2,000 for systems ordered by 30 June 2027 in existing buildings.
What's changing for photovoltaics and home batteries?
For photovoltaic installations, the amount of the subsidy now depends on the installed capacity. Correct sizing is therefore essential: the system should match the household's electricity consumption, the available roof area and future needs, for example a heat pump or an electric vehicle.
For home batteries, the subsidy is calculated according to the storage capacity. Under certain conditions, it will also be possible to add a battery later to an existing photovoltaic installation and still benefit from financial support.
A pre-financing option will also make it easier to carry out photovoltaic projects. In this case, the subsidy is deducted directly from the invoice by the participating company.
From 2027, a pre-financing scheme will also be introduced for heat pumps, insulation works, window replacement and the installation of a ventilation system (VMC).
Which installations are no longer supported?
Some installations are no longer eligible under the new scheme, including:
- wood log boilers and wood chip boilers used as central heating systems;
- solar thermal systems for new buildings or buildings less than 10 years old;
new hybrid heating systems combining a heat pump with a fossil fuel heating system, such as a gas boiler.
